Please register at: Tel. +49 (0) 89 189 30 95 0 or email event@pin-freunde.de. Entry to the exhibition and guided tour are free. The PIN. Friends of the Pinakothek der Moderne are hosting their annual BENEFIT AUCTION FOR THE PINAKOTHEK DER MODERNE AND THE MUSEUM BRANDHORST on Saturday, November 18, 2023. We are pleased that the work “Mh deliciouslecker, 2023” by Elisa Breyer is among them. She studied at the Bauhaus University Weimar, Chung-Ang University Seoul and, since 2021, at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich, class of Karin Kneffel.

"The perfection of painting, as Elisa Breyer's glossy pictures also show, makes dissonances stand out all the more. She virtuously paints banal, everyday objects that our eyes cannot simply glide over, but on which they linger with a diffuse unease. Her voyeuristic gaze is directed on a bright pink plastic chair on which lies a blue towel with a frog-green hair clip attached, on a glass of water in front of bright green stock, the contents of which have lost its crystalline purity, on an ensemble of colorful hair ties held by clothespins to dry The artist allows us to perceive the ugliness and insignificance of the things we surround ourselves with behind the shiny surface of her painting, which she shows up close, in aggressive, bright colors. The mood of her portrait models does not seem to be affected by this unpleasant environment. In the portraits that Elisa Breyer paints, which, along with the still lifes, are her main interest, we see people with relaxed facial expressions who look at us or gaze absently at an indeterminate point. The distortion and bright colors of the still lifes take a back seat to this friendly counterpart: According to the painter, in an ugly, problematic world, the interpersonal gaze should be loving."
